Creta Tuning Stages

Typical stage 1 mods often include: Suspension upgrade (drop 26mm — 39 mm.), Alloy wheels, Panel air filter, Engine Tunes/Remapping, Lighter flywheel, Sports exhaust.

Typical stage 2 mods often include: Ported and polished head, fuel pump upgrades, Fast road cam, high flow fuel injector, Power/Sport clutch.

Typical stage 3 mods often include: Adding or upgrading forced induction (turbo/supercharger), Engine balancing, Competition cam, Sports gearbox, Internal engine upgrades (pistons/head/valves).

Your aims when modding your car should be a wide torque band. You want to avoid sending all the torque to be at the top end of the rev range unless you are creating a motor sport car.

In this article we shall give a limited introduction to the best modifications for your car, but we’d encourage you to spend some time on the site looking into the details of each type of performance mod.A fast road cam typically is one of the best NASP power modifications you can do from a single upgrade to your engine.

It improves the intake and exhaust durations and pushes up the power if done right. Ideally you’d add other mods and finish up with a performance chip. TorqueCars would caution you not to go with a competition cam as this affects the engines idling and general town driving characteristics.

You will need to ensure that the engine is not starved of fuel so will need to look at the fuelling.

Frequently power losses, and erratic idling after performance parts are done can usually be traced to fuel delivery or timing issues. Uprating the injectors is another beneficial modification and will deliver sufficient fuel.

A fuel pump will only deliver a finite amount of fuel, so you may need to uprate this if your injectors are demanding more fuel.

Creta Intake and Exhaust Tuning.

Now we move on to the intake and exhaust and ensure proper flow through the engine. Contrary to popular belief there is often a small if any power gain obtained by fitting an induction kit, they only work well and are recommended after you increase the engines power to the point where the standard air intake box cannot cope!

For most Creta engines TorqueCars would suggest you just go with a washable panel air filter. On heavily tuned engines and turbo vehicles an induction kit will help release the power providing you address the problem of supplying cold air.

Sports exhausts can usually air flow out of the engine but do not go too large or you might just stuff your flow rate and make things worse. So generally speaking, keep to a size of 1.5 to 2.5 inches for best results.

Head work including a gas flow and 3 or 5 angle valve job will really help to release the potential of the engine. In nearly all cases of Creta tuning your clutch will start to fail and this should be improved — read our overview on clutches for more information. The best mods we recommend for your Creta are remaps, sports camshafts and induction improvements.

Turbo engines are just crying out to be Remapped. You will see massive power gains on most modern turbo charged cars including diesels making a tune/remap one of the most cost effective and massive modifications for your money.

We’ve also seen some tuners playing with twincharging conversions and making some seriously high power hikes.

Adding forced induction will see significant power gains but this is usually too expensive to be cost effective. It is generally cheaper to bolt on a supercharger than it is to bolt on a turbo. It is more challenging to map a turbo as the boost comes on exponentially with revs.

It is easier to map a supercharger because the boost is proportional to engine speed on a linear curve. Alternatively you could perhaps install water injection to control knock.

Creta Alloy wheel upgrades.

The benefits of alloys include reducing your unsprung weight and better brake cooling via the extra air flow they allow. Pay attention to your choice of tyres (tires) for your car, a good soft compound tire can really enhance your cars handling. Large Creta alloys can decrease performance. If you get big alloys you will be changing your final drive ratio.

With this in mind we would advise sticking to a maximum wheel size of 18 inches, although we know some of our members have gone larger than this with no problems.

Best mods for your Creta

  1. Creta Suspension Upgrades — Upgrading your suspension greatly enhances your Creta road holding and cornering. Coilovers and Bushings are the usual go to mods
  2. Fast road Camshafts are generally the biggest mechanical mod upgrade, but they must be installed by someone who knows what they are doing and they are not always easy to source but you might find a local firm to regrind a stock camshaft.
  3. Engine Tunes — A Remapped Creta ECU provides the most advantage in terms of cost, aftermarket ECU upgrades, and inline Tuning boxes are all alternatives.
  4. Head work — The goals of porting and flowing the head are to get air flowing into the engine while removing flow restrictions and turbulence.
  5. Air Induction and Sports Exhausts — Please note that on their own these mods won’t ADD POWER in most cases, but they can help enhance power after other mods by removing the restriction.
  6. Braking Mods — Improve your Creta’s stopping power ought to be near the top of your Mods list.
  7. Turbo upgrades — Adding a turbocharger is the most efficient approach to increase air supply, allowing you to burn more fuel and make more power. Although one of the most costly upgrades you’ll see massive gains.
